Who was William Wallace? Was he a real person or just a character in a movie? Did he really do all the things that Paramount Pictures depicts that he did? What role did he play, if any, in the war of Scottish Independence? I’ve watched the movie Braveheart a hundred times, from the beginning to the end, from the middle to the end, and sometimes just the end. I can be channel surfing and run across it and no matter where it is I find the movie, I stop and watch from there like it was the first time I’d ever seen it. It never ceases to move me to the bone and I almost always feel invincible when it’s over. I’ve quoted the movie, I’ve acted out the movie, and I’ve even taught messages to youth groups from that movie. The courage it shows is but a glimpse into the actual life he lived. It’s amazing to think of what people will do when all they have is taken from them, more so when they are forced to by opposition.
